Are these robots safe?
Yes, every robot has a number of safety features such as automatic blade shut down, should the robot be lifted from the ground. The robots also has auto shut off if the handle if touched by a human hand during working cycles. Robot lawn mowers are the safest lawn mowers in the world. When a robot is touched or interfered with during working times they will shut down and require a 4 digit password to restart which only the owner will know.
What happens in case of unexpected absence of electrical current in the wire perimeter(e.g. Short circuit)
All robot models will stop immediately, when the power is restored it will continue to mow the lawn with the original settings programmed by the operator.
My garden has a hill, will the robot cope?
Yes our robots can work quietly on lawns that have gradients of up to 30 ° without losing speed, power or without the risk of overturning. We would advise the use of spiked wheels and a model with twin lithium batteries to help cope with the extra power required to manoeuvre the robot on uneven lawn areas.
How long does it take to recharge the batteries?
All robot models will automatically return to the charging station and charge for approximately 3 hours.
How long does it take to mow the lawn?
This varies from model to model, on average it will take approximately an hour to mow an area of about 300 square meters. For the best results it is advisable to operate the robot several times a week, depending on the time of year. Thanks to the cutting and mulching program onboard your lawn will improve in a relatively short time and quickly become a beautiful and healthy lawn.
Will the robot work well with long grass?
If your grass is longer than 15 cm then you should mow your lawn prior to installing a robot system. It will then mow 1/3 of the grass blade length on each mowing, therefore mulching the valuable 1/3 of nitrogen rich food back into your lawn, self feeding and self watering and saving you valuable time.
How long will the batteries last?
Depending on the size of the area to be mowed and if used correctly, the batteries can last between 2-5 years, the cost is low to replace them, and much lower when compared to the consumption of a normal mower or ride on mower.
How much does it cost to operate per year?
Robots consume very little consumption of electricity, during charging we estimate a consumption of about 30 Watts (3 hours of charging time). It is estimated that a machine that works every day, has an annual consumption of around £6.00 .
Do Robot lawn mowers work when it is raining?
No they do not, our robots are all fitted with rain sensors, when it starts raining it will detect moisture and automatically return to the charging station and switch off the blade to protect the grass and itself in heavy rainfall. It will come back out an hour later to check the moisture level and if it is dry enough to mow it shall continue to do so, depending on the settings programmed by the user.
Can The cutting height be changed?
Yes, the cutting height can be adjusted with a simple and quick operation. The first few days of work it is advisable to work the robot at a high cutting level, to avoid hitting hidden objects within your lawn.
Is The perimeter wire safs there electrical current flowing in it?
Yes, it is absolutely safe because the cable emits a very low weak electrical signal, it is the same level as a telephone cable, the robot recognizes this boundary as its own workspace. The robot is completely safe and if there is the slightest possibility that the electric current or cable is broken or touched the robot will automatically switch off making it 100% safe.
Can I bury the perimeter wire?
Yes, All AutoLawnmow technicians carry a specialized machine that can inject the cable into your lawn keeping it safe and away from the surface of your lawn. AutoLawnMow is the only company providing this service using specialized machines.
What happens at the edges of the lawn?
The robot will finish the edges of your lawn, but you can if you choose finish the edges in an alternative way should you choose to do so.
Does the robot lawn care system know where to mow?
Robot sensors are tuned to pick up the frequency of electric current passing through the perimeter wire placed around the edge of the garden, this serves as a barrier or boundary not to be crossed. In the absence of signal, such as if the wire is cut, the robot will instantly stop and the panel will display that the signal has been lost. The boundary will keep your robot secure and compounded and it will mow until completion or until the batteries run low and then it shall return to charge, once charged it shall again return to mow until it has completed it's cycle.
CE certified?
All AutoLawnMow UK range of models have a CE certificate that meets and exceeds the most stringent UK safety regulations. If the robot is lifted or tilted it automatically switches off the blade.
What is the width of cut?
This varies, depending on the robot model, between 22 to 36 cm.
Can The Robot re-charging base station be placed anywhere?
No, you must ensure that the robot is not going to be exposed extreme weather conditions, it should be protected from water and from direct heat, the power supply must also be a well ventilated area. The base must be placed on a flat area and have at least 2 m cable perimeter in a place perpendicular to the base for recharging. All Robot models are fully waterproof but need to be protected from frost or direct hot sun when not in use.
How about cleaning / maintenance of my robot? And at the end of season what to do?
Robots like any other working garden machine need to be cleaned regularly. Especially the underside of the robot to ensure the blade is always clean. The front and rear wheel bearings should be regularly oiled, especially at the end of the season, make sure to remove any residue build up too. Autolawnmow UK offers a maintenance service for your robot, which includes a software update and a full valet service is also available. It is best to carry this out in the winter season so that your robot has a clean bill of health to start the spring season so it can maintain the job of keeping your lawns groomed to perfection and looking beautiful.
